Chief Envisioner – TELUS, Author, Thinker, Professional Speaker Professional 

Dan Pontefract is Chief Envisioner at TELUS, a Canadian telecommunications company, where he heads the Transformation Office, a future-of-work consulting group that helps organizations enhance their corporate cultures and collaboration practices. Previously as Chief Learning Officer, Dan introduced a new leadership framework–called the TELUS Leadership Philosophy–that dramatically helped to increase the company’s employee engagement to record levels of nearly 90%.

He is the author of THE PURPOSE EFFECT and FLAT ARMY. On September 11 of this year his next book, OPEN to THINK, is set to publish. A renowned speaker, Dan has presented at multiple TED events and also writes for Forbes, Harvard Business Review and The Huffington Post. Dan is also an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria and has garnered more than 20 industry awards over his career.
Dan and his wife, Denise, have three young children (aka goats) and live in Victoria, Canada.

Carolyn ByerCaroyln Byer
HR Leader, Canada

As HR Lead for Canada, Carolyn works closely with President Kevin Peesker and the Leadership Team to develop and execute the people strategy for Microsoft Canada. She leads a team of HR professionals focused on developing Microsoft’s talent, organization and culture to accelerate the company’s own business transformation and impact the broader Microsoft ecosystem.


A strong business leader with proven experience in the c-suite and across all levels of management, Carolyn is a champion of Microsoft’s “learn it all” and growth mindset” tenets and is committed to continuing to grow Microsoft’s diverse and inclusive workforce.


Prior to joining Microsoft, Carolyn served in a variety of HR disciplines globally at IBM for more than 17 years. She has a Bachelor of Psychology from University of Guelph and a Masters in Human Resources from Rutgers University. Outside of work, Carolyn focuses on her family. She enjoys conversing with others and expanding her perspectives and can typically be found on a soccer field or a lake.

Ian Turner
Principal, Sydcam Marketing Communications

Ian is a marketing and communications strategist who has worked in a variety of roles over his 25+ year career spent primarily in the financial services industry. He leverages his experience in sales, sales management and operations management to develop more holistic marketing solutions that can provide a broader business impact.

His practical approach to marketing and business coupled with his passion for both has enabled Ian to develop compelling yet cost-effective solutions that deliver bottom-line results.

Ian is a strong proponent for the role of a sound marketing strategy in formulating a successful and differentiated business. He believes that a well thought out strategy should be the foundation for a business’ decision-making process.

Ian has an MBA from McMaster University where he majored in both Strategic Marketing and International Business. He also has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto.

Michelle Cederberg

Michael Neill

Mike is the president and founder of ServiStar Consulting, a company he started 20 years ago (formerly known as Michael Neill and Associates) with the mission to help credit unions develop a sales and service culture and offer superb member experiences. He is the author of two books, Creating and Maintaining a Credit Union Sales and Service Culture, and Coaching for Performance both published by CUES.

Dan Coldwell
Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer, PACE Credit Union

As PACE Credit Union’s Chief Marketing and Community Relations Officer Dan is responsible for the positive evolution of the PACE brand and its position in the community. Prior to joining PACE in 2007, Dan was the Chief Operating Officer at North York Credit Union where he started his Credit Union Career in 1992.

Dan has a passion for serving his community. Outside of PACE he is the Chair of the Ontario Credit Union Foundation as well as a fundraising committee at Southlake Regional Health Centre his local hospital. In addition, Dan is a Hockey Canada High Performance 1 Certified coach helping to shape young lives in the Aurora Panthers organization.

Dan lives in Newmarket Ontario with his wife Sheryl and their three daughters.
